Life is a Tight Rope.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Pro 22:6

problem is that the old Western/Eastern proverb is a double edge sword You ALWAYS TRAIN a child or an animal even either way

Dr Spock will be next to Judas and Brutus in the next Dante's Inferno for LACK of training LOL

Interesting Semantics here too

H2596
חנך
chânak
khaw-nak'
A primitive root; properly to narrow (compare H2614); figuratively to initiate or discipline: - dedicate, train up.
H2614
חנק
chânaq
khaw-nak'
A primitive root (compare H2596); to be narrow; by implication to throttle, or (reflexively) to choke oneself to death (by a rope): - hang self, strangle.

Mat 7:13  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Mat 7:14  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Luk 13:24  Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

So much interesting food for thought in these age old principles.

Main problem I see yes is that some who try really hard to make it narrow go too far in and make it too narrow and end up strangling, smothering, and choking all life out of the letter of the law while the spirit of the law has long gone through the window and died.
The rubber band effect or the strategy of inertia to some, if someone is pushing, pull with him: old judo technique to win.

Of course too wide leads to "criminal" behaviour but too narrow kills and chokes the life just as well.

David Carradine should have known about this fine balance! :)
